Cycling the power

Resetting the control sometimes clears problems, KitchenAid says, much as restarting a computer does. The dishwasher must be disconnected for 30 seconds.

• Plugs into an outlet: unplug, wait 30 seconds, plug back in.
• Hard wired: switch off the breaker feeding it at the home electrical panel, wait 30 seconds, switch the breaker on.

Role of the diverter valve
