H2O says the dishwasher cannot detect water. KitchenAid lists the water supply and the supply hose as the places to look.
Model compatibility: KitchenAid reuses codes across series and model years, so H2O may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
The dishwasher is not detecting water; confirm the supply is on and the supply hose has no kinks.
What H2O reports
When a KitchenAid dishwasher shows H2O, it is not detecting water. Some KitchenAid pages spell it H20, with a zero, but that is the same entry.
The checks
The water supply to the dishwasher should be on.
The supply hose should run free of kinks.
These two checks appear in both KitchenAid articles. Nothing in them mentions a reset, a filter or the drain.
Pressing Start afterward
The article that lists H2O together with F8E1 adds one more instruction. After the supply problem is corrected, press Start. The dishwasher then tries to fill and picks the cycle back up.
Not the same as the F6 inlet entries
The technician documents hold F6 entries for low or no water, a fill valve electrical problem and cool water, each with parts lists, not household steps. H2O is different, because it comes from an owner-help article that includes an owner fix. If the supply and the hose check out and H2O still returns, book service.
Notes to pass along
The supply valve was open at the time.
The hose looked straight.
The dishwasher did or did not take in any water.
