Error codeF8E2
ApplianceDishwasher
Quick answer
F8E2 is the Fill Valve Electric Error. KitchenAid lists a drip tray check at the inlet valve and a 30-second reset.
Model compatibility: KitchenAid reuses codes across series and model years, so F8E2 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
Fill Valve Electric Error: after removing the drip tray, check the inlet valve connection for leaks, power cycle, then book service if it returns.
On its owner-help site, KitchenAid labels F8E2 a “Fill Valve Electric Error” and gives a pair of troubleshooting items. A service call only comes after both.
1. Look at the inlet valve connection
Pull the drip tray off and make sure the connection to the inlet valve is not leaking. The tray is the plastic pan under the dishwasher. A related KitchenAid article frees it by pushing the snap at either side toward the middle and sliding the tray toward you. It adds a warning: the float switch wire is still attached, so tugging too far or too forcefully can damage that wire. Move gently, and shut the machine down first as a general precaution.
2. Reset by removing power
Count out 30 seconds without power. A plugged-in machine is unplugged and reconnected; a hard-wired one has its breaker turned off at the home electrical panel and turned on again. Should F8E2 return, KitchenAid says to schedule service.
Fill valve codes side by side
F8E2: an electric error, plus a leak check at the inlet connection
F6E2: an electrical entry (loose connection, open solenoid, open fuse or drive circuit)
F8E5: a valve that is stuck open, with steps for shutting off water
Not explained
The source never says why checking for leaks belongs to an electric error, nor does it name electrical causes for F8E2.
If water turns up in the tray, F8E4 is also worth reading, because it concerns the drip tray and inlet connection too.
